The two story Turkish Airlines lounge at Ataturk Havalimani in Istanbul |
Saturday, February 17
We arrived in Istanbul at
4:30 PM (7:30 AM Chicago time). We have a little more than 2 hours here
before our next flight departs to Dubai. It might be worth the trip to Istanbul just to visit the Turkish Airlines lounge at Ataturk.
The lounge is a most
beautiful space – much as I remember it.
Two stories, mirrors and plants and filigree decorations. There are tea and coffee bars, food
stations – they’re featuring Indian food today - olive bars, a reading library,
a prayer room. There was a whole
table of Turkish sweets next to the coffee bar.

Library and billiard table - across the hall is a video game room |
|
Drinks bar, olive bar, omelet station, Indian food sampling, and it goes on... |
|
So many delicious pastries, so little time... |

You can take a shower while you wait for your next flight – Mike has reserved one. And there is
a woman making the rounds doing back and neck massages for passengers.
They have excellent internet service, which is secure and fast. You scan your boarding pass to get an individual ticket and pass code.

And we're in! |

OK, read my 2016 blog from Istanbul if you really want to know why to visit - but this lovely travelers' oasis sweetens the reasons! |
