The Parador of Ronda, as viewed from across the gorge |
Friday, November 1, 2019 Ronda
We checked into the parador at Ronda. The Parador is situated in a spectacular spot in the heart of the city, beside Ronda's famous Puente Nuevo (New Bridge). It is housed in the former town hall building. The location is incredible, with unparalleled views of the Tajo, one of the deepest gorges in Spain, atop a ravine 120 meters deep.

A belvedere walkway surrounds the parador on three sides offering sweeping views in all directions. There is a patio with a lawn and a swimming pool.

We all gathered for dinner at 8. We were served cold almond soup with dried tuna curls and macerated apples, an entree of fresh pasta with vegetables, dried nuts and basil sauce, and an almond cake with “porridge” ice cream for dessert. All was good, especially the almond soup. I was too tired tonight to do any blog. I just went to bed and crashed.

After a lovely evening walk on our first night of arrival, we were treated to beautiful pastel colors of the sunset and dusky twilight.
