Lapa Palace - built as a noble manor house in the 1800s, now an award winning hotel. |

Lobby floral arrangement with sumptuous red anthuriums |
The Lapa Palace Hotel is a converted 19th century manor house with beautiful gardens in a the hilly residential neighborhood of Lapa. Our taxi driver said it was very elegant and he wasn’t kidding. He pulled into the large round driveway and two doormen in formal livery greeted us and loaded our luggage. We are staying in a newly build section in room 222 with a terrace and a garden view. It’s a beautiful room in a peaceful, inspiring location.

Love the blue azulejos tiles |
We were settled in by 2 PM, ordered iced tea from room service and after a little respite on the terrace, I took a much needed nap. Mike went swimming in their indoor pool and then also joined in the napping.

A perfect respite on the terrace with views of the river. |
