Piano music - the perfect end to our first day in Lisbon

Thursday,  October 24                                                                                 Lisbon

It was dark by the time we returned from our evening walk, about 7:30 and we were ready for dinner.  t’s early to eat – the main restaurants don’t open until after 8:30 or later.  So we followed the advice of the receptionist and had dinner in the Bar Tejo.  It was a quiet, clubby place for a drink and a meal.

Local Portuguese sparkling wine

We started with a local Portuguese sparkling wine; I had gazpacho and a Caesar salad and Michael had a club sandwich.  Halfway through our meal, we were treated to a piano player who knew all my favorite tunes from accordion playing days, and he too requests: Never on a Sunday, Fly Me to the Moon, Cherry Pink & Apple Blossom White, It's a Wonderful World.  We listened for a while and then headed up to our room for a good night's sleep.  I think we will go to see the Maritime Museum tomorrow before we move hotels to join our AIA tour group.

Fly me to the moon, Somewhere over the Rainbow, Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White, Moon River...

Artwork at the hotel - painting of the Basilica and the trolley in the evening glow.  Perfect ending to our day.
