Evening on the Adriatic Sea

Looking at the spars under the stars

Sunday, July 3 - Trip Day 4

The night was softly stealing the last light from the sky.  Pink and orange on the western horizon dimmed as we continued moving forward past islands that were now much further away.

The night lights on the ship emphasized the tallness of the masts jutting high into the night sky.  A waxing crescent moon hung low in the sky and peaked through the rigging, making it twinkle.

This evening envelop of lowering twilight, with the emergence of the stars and the moon, was my favorite time to be out on the deck in a place of solitude.  The winds were soft and warm, but refreshing with a barely perceptible salty tang.

The sounds of the waves against the ship and the noises from the rigging seemed like pleasant conversation.  If you strained, could you hear the voices of those that had sailed these waters before?  The stars were brilliant, once the night developed into its full inky blackness.  Just lay back and watch them and get ready for dreams....

Easy to find solitude on the decks at night

Heart stopping beauty - the masts and rigging scraping the stars at night

Once back in the room, the details of our next day activities and a sweet goodnight
