Vistas in Dubrovnik

Looking south from our hotel - cruise ships and sailboats galore

Friday, July 1 - Trip Day 2

First day of arrival is always tough from jet lag.  I took a little nap in the afternoon for a few hours, while Michael went swimming in the saltwater pool and the sea.  As we ate an early dinner, we decided to go for a walk into the historic part of Dubrovnik.

There are so many beautiful and evocative vistas, it's easy just to stop and gawk for a while.  Especially as the colors of the light, sky and water changed throughout the day and into the evening

Small boat harbor, just outside of old town Dubrovnik's original harbor from the 1500's.

The Karaka (left) - 16th century replica of a traditional carrack ship, out for a sunset cruise

The Karaka is a smaller replica of the original carracks - but still very impressive

As you can see, kayaking is very popular in this region

A nice local beach - looking south to Montenegro over the mountain on the left

It's hot today and the beaches are very popular
