Staying in Dubrovnik- a Place at the Sea

Swimming area and saltwater pool at our Dubrovnik hotel

Friday, July 1 - Trip Day 2

We arrived at our hotel on Friday just after lunch.  It's located on the sea, a little south of Dubrovnik's Old Town, and an easy walk to go visit. The Grand Villa Argentina is the site selected by National Geographic, and we will depart from here on our sailing cruise on Sunday.

The original Dalmatian villa is connected to a newer hotel, with extensive gardens,  access to swimming in the sea and a saltwater pool.  It has beautiful views, not only of the old city, but across to Lokrum Island.

The Grand Villa Argentina Hotel - our home for the next 2 nights

The old Dalmatian villa has been integrated into the newer parts of the hotel

There are extensive terraces and gardens, perfect for al fresco dining and relaxing

The vistas are interesting, as sailboats, cruise ships, kayaks and others are constantly moving

We enjoyed their open air terrace location for our breakfasts, where Dubrovnik's Old Town was lit by the morning sun.  The Mediterranean climate is beautiful - but it's warm here this week, with temperatures in the high 90s.

Breakfast on the terrace

Michael's happy - he's had his double espresso

Breakfast with a view

Perfect views of the Old City and the original port

Michael's first stop was the swimming area and the pool-of course!  He went swimming three times on Friday!
