Marrakech - almond milk and dates at La MaMounia

[Thursday, February 12]

We landed around 5 PM at the Marrakech Airport and transferred by bus to our hotel, La Mamounia.  We noticed the sign in the lobby that this hotel was voted the number one tourist hotel in the world in 2013.  Vladimir Putin's daughter's wedding was held here in 2013. We were served almond milk and dates upon arrival.

Our room, 142, is gorgeous – a full suite with walk in bathroom including freestanding tub, shower, closet commode and bidet and a walk in closet.  At the end of the hall is our bedroom and we have double French doors leading out into a patio balcony over looking the gardens and the (heated) outdoor pool.

The room is tiled with mosaics and carved wood and marble.  We have a bouquet of white roses, a rose in our bathroom, delicious macaroons for an afternoon snack.  Our gifts at this location included a cedar inlay box for Mike and a woven Berber shawl for me.  A treat for our last location on the trip.
