Lovely greeting by Inle Lake beauty at our hotel arrival |
Wednesday
, February 28 Inle Lake, Myanmar
We
arrived at our new hotel - the Aurum Palace at Inle Lake - after our bus ride through the country side at about 12:30. After our welcome, we found our room (326) at the very end of the
complex. It’s a complete cottage –
a large central bedroom, a sitting room, and huge series of rooms that make up
the shower, bath, dressing room and changing room and foyer – and a lovely deck
overlooking the “lake.”

Welcoming ginger lemon iced tea and snacks, along with roses, roses, roses |
Serene statues along the reflecting pools |
Large infinity pool overlooking the lake |
Keeping the sidewalk immaculately clean - on our walkway to our cottage |
At the cottage door |
Red pillows to complement the red roses in our sitting area |
Elaborate decorations on our bed welcomed us when we arrived |
Rose petals everywhere, including our wooden wash basin |
Gorgeous marble shower, with singularly placed white pebble rocks on the floor |
Wooden soaking tub -- more rose petals, of course |

Our lake "view" from the end cabin in the complex - a bit of bad luck in an otherwise beautiful accommodation |
We walked back to the main lodge and restaurant for lunch before an afternoon boat trip. On the way, I stopped at the spa desk, as they were demonstrating how to use thanaka,
the Burmese skin care product made from powdered bark, used to cover the skin to avoid sun burn and treat skin blemishes.
Preparing the thanaka - a powder mixed with water |
Why not try it? |
This beauty's flawless skin is a great advertisement for the use of thanaka |
