Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) has more than 7 million motor bikes and it's fascinating to see them cluster and thread the congestion of the roadways. You must be fearless when you cross the street - just look straight ahead, start walking and don't flinch!

When I was in Hanoi 15 years ago, I never felt I could actually cross a street filled with speeding motorcycles and then an old lady with an umbrella just stepped off the curb and started across and everyone parted around her so I just followed her. Worked, but I needed another little old lady to get back.....
